Alice Carabédian is a PhD student at the Political and Social Change Laboratory (L.C.S.P.) at the Denis Diderot University. After gaining a Masters degree in Modern Literature and in Political Philosophy, she was granted a doctoral contract at the L.C.S.P. to continue her research into science fiction as a laboratory for reflection on and a means to call into question contemporary political issues. Her thesis focuses on a re-reading and re-thinking of the notion of a critical and political utopia through the science fiction of Iain M. Banks. She is the co-founder of the Archipel des devenirs (Archipelago of future outcomes) – a center for research into utopia.
